What You're Buying, and Who's Responsible for What

Every product on Replica Guns Only falls into one of three legal categories, and which one matters a lot, because the rules attached to each are completely different.

A quick guide to the categories:
  • Toy firearm — looks vaguely gun-shaped, but its size, shape, or colour makes it obvious it isn't a real weapon. Generally unregulated.

  • Imitation firearm — a close visual copy of a real or historical firearm that cannot fire anything. This is where most licensing and permit requirements kick in, and the rules differ by state.

  • Replica firearm — a working reproduction that can actually discharge a projectile. These require full firearms registration and licensing wherever they're sold.

Every product listing tells you which category it falls into. If you're ever unsure, ask us before you buy, not after.

Who Can Buy From Us

We sell to adults only. By placing an order, you're confirming you're 18 or older, or, if you're under 18, that a parent or guardian is making the purchase on your behalf and has given consent.

Before We Can Ship

Some products need documentation before they leave our warehouse. If your order requires it, we'll ask for the relevant licence, permit, or exemption paperwork, by email at sales@replicagunsonly.com.au. Scanned copies only, clear and legible; faxed documents won't be accepted, as the image quality usually isn't good enough to archive properly.

A Note on Victoria

Victoria treats this category of product differently under the Control of Weapons Act 1990. Unless you hold a Chief Commissioner's approval or a Governor in Council exemption, we're not able to ship prohibited items to a Victorian address. If you do hold an exemption, send us a scan of your membership card or certificate, a current Victorian driver's licence, and a contact number, and we'll process your order from there. Details on exemptions are available at www.police.vic.gov.au, or you can call Victoria Police Licensing Services on 1300 651 645 if you're not sure what applies to you.

Where the Responsibility Sits

We can tell you what category a product falls into, but we can't tell you definitively whether it's legal for you personally to own, carry, or transport, that depends on your state, your circumstances, and sometimes your reason for owning it. That responsibility sits with you as the buyer. Replica Guns Only doesn't warrant compliance with any particular jurisdiction's laws, and to the extent the law allows, we disclaim liability for a customer's individual compliance obligations.

To put it plainly: it's on you to check the law before you buy, not on us to have checked it for you. Every purchase from this site is made on the understanding that you, the buyer, are responsible for confirming it's legal for you to own the item in your state or territory.

Laws shift more often than you'd expect, and we can't keep a page like this current for every jurisdiction at once. The most reliable move is a direct call to your state's firearms registry before you order anything you're uncertain about.

Using This Website

This site, and anything linked from it, is provided as-is. Replica Guns Only, along with our staff, contractors, and anyone else associated with running the business, isn't liable for loss or damage arising from your use of the site, whether that's lost profit, interrupted business, corrupted data, or anything else, direct or indirect. We also can't guarantee that anything downloadable from this site or a linked one is free of malicious code; using it is at your own risk, and by doing so you release us from responsibility for whatever follows.

Shipping Timeframes

We aim to get orders out within 2–3 working days of cleared payment, but that window can shift, remote addresses, public holidays, and peak periods like Christmas all add delay outside our control. If you're working to a deadline, get in touch before ordering so we can confirm whether we can realistically meet it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if a product needs a permit?

Check the product listing. Each one specifies whether it's a toy, imitation, or replica firearm, and that classification determines what (if anything) you need. When in doubt, contact us or your state firearms registry before ordering.

I'm under 18 but want to buy something — can a parent order for me?

Yes. A parent or guardian can place the order on your behalf, provided they're consenting to the purchase themselves.

Why won't you ship certain products to Victoria?

Victoria's Control of Weapons Act 1990 restricts imitation firearms more tightly than most other states. Without a Chief Commissioner's approval or a Governor in Council exemption on file, we're legally unable to send these items to a Victorian address.

What if I don't have my licence or permit ready yet?

We'll hold your order until the required documentation comes through. You can send it by email or upload it directly, and we'll process the order as soon as it's verified.

If something on this page turns out to be outdated, who's responsible?

You are, ultimately, for confirming current requirements before you buy. We update this page when we can, but firearms law changes at the state level fairly often, and a direct call to your local registry is always the most current source.

Can I get in trouble even if the product itself is legal to own?

Potentially, yes. How and where you use, display, carry, or transport an item can matter as much as whether you're allowed to own it. Public display of anything that resembles a firearm can draw police attention regardless of its legal status.
